The BayMiner analysis tool has in YIT Construction
been in use since the year 2002.
The benefits have been obvious. Test use was started with
safety barometer and accident statistics analysing. First
results were very promising and gave us strong signals about
Bayminer's potential. From these very first tests the usage
has become a part of normal business process.
CASE: customer and sales data
Latest application is in analysing customer and sales data
to find potential customer groups and to develop our
products to match their needs. As a result we found that
some of our products were too high priced and of course
some too low priced. "This immediately lead to reprising
of certain products" says Vesa Pirinen, development
manager at YIT Construction.
Key results of this customer data analysis were better-
identified groups of potential customers as well as better
understanding of reasons for dissatisfaction.

us to develop our customer feedback collection
process" Vesa continues.
One remarkable benefit found in BayMiner is how easily
it reveals whether the data used is trustworthy or not.
While analysing BayMiner also raised new questions
and thereby steered us to develop data collection further.
Once we have learned to use this tool, which by the way
only takes one day to get started, we are going to improve
our data collection methods and develop our internal
business intelligence. In YIT we expect to find almost
endlessly new usage opportunities for BayMiner.
